NOTICE:

Have you heard of the recent changes in the Kindergarten entry cutoff date?

The Kindergarten Readiness Act (Senate Bill 1381) is a law that changes the Kindergarten entry-age in California. During this current school year (2011-12) students have to be five years old on or by December 2nd. The law will progressively push the cutoff to five years old by September 1st of 2014-15 and onward. The law will take effect starting next school year (2012-2013).

The child must be five years of age on or before:

December 2 for the 2011-12 school year,
November 1 for the 2012-13 school year,
October 1 for the 2013-14 school year and
September 1 for the 2014-15 school year and each school year thereafter.
The Kindergarten Readiness Act provides a Transitional Kindergarten option for those students who fall within the dates listed above and the cutoff of December 2.
