  • Spark Program Winter Session Complete!

The Spark Apprenticeship Program just finished a successful Winter Session for the 2012-2013 school year at Frick Middle School!  Spark creates opportunities for middle school students to experience what life is like in their dream job.  What does this do for the student?  It opens up their world and creates life-changing experiences that keep them engaged in school and enlarge their college and career options.  What do the mentors get out of this experience?  They get a chance to give back on a one-to-one level to students that truly benfeit from spending time with them.

Each Spark apprenticeship session lasts 8 weeks with the students going to their mentor's job site once a week.  Students get to see what life is like in their dream job, what it takes to get there and if it's something the would like to pursue as they look forward to college and career choices.  This experience brings student dreams closer to reality.  At the end of each session students and their mentors participate in a Discovery Night where the school community gets to hear and see just what they have been up to.  It was a great a event and we're looking forward to our spring Discovery Night already.  Check out some pictures from the event and the KGO interview!
